Michael Ros Winery Mourvedre 2022

Mourvèdre is a full-bodied red wine that traces its roots to Spain, where it is known as Monastrell. It later found fame in southern France. Mourvèdre is one of the five principal Rhône red varietals and one of the three grapes that make up the famous GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). This Mourvèdre displays a deep garnet color with ruby highlights and subtle brick tones at the rim which reflect the wines extended 32 month barrel aging. On the nose you will get complex aromas of blackberry, black plum, and dried cherry layered with notes of leather, cedar and baking spices. Hints of cracked pepper will emerge as the wine opens in the glass. Extended barrel aging has transformed Mourvèdre's naturally robust structure into a wine of remarkable depth, balance, and elegance. On the palate, rich flavors of dark berries, plum, and black cherry are complemented by notes of cocoa, cedar, dried herbs, and warm spice. Time in barrel has softened Mourvèdre's naturally firm tannins, creating a smooth, textured mouthfeel while preserving the wine's structure and balance.
