Elisa Christopher Wines Mourvedre

About our Mourvedre : Mourvedre is grown in southern France and Spain (where it is known as Mataro)...and of course in Texas! In our Mourvedre we get smoked BBQ, red plum and boysenberry on the nose. On the palate, ripe red and purple plum, smoke and cedar, tobacco. Pairs well with BBQ, burgers, roasted pork loin or prepare your favorite cheese plate with manchego, finocchina, and genoa salami. Geeky Details : These grapes are from Buena Suerte Vineyards. When Chris went there the first time he swore he was on Mars with the red dirt and cloudy day that greated us. He kept looking for a rover. These grapes were harvested September 11, 2022 and were whole berry fermented (no stems). The wine fermented for two days before we innoculated with a malolactic co-fermentation yeast and finished fermentation after nine days. We then pressed the wine on September 26, 2022 and aged in neutral oak barrels for 18 months. The wine was bottled March 28, 2024 and released October 2024.
